FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS TREASURES What is the website, Treasure Hunting Games, all about? Treasure Hunting Games is a website where you get to solve a conundrum and win the corresponding treasure. You, and others, purchase one or more games. Then, the race is on to see who will solve the puzzle first! If you figure out the solution before anyone else, you win treasure. What are Treasure Hunting Games? A Treasure Hunting Game may come in the form of an enigma, mystery, problem, or activity. These are generally challenging yet exciting to solve! The games are purchased from our website, www.treasurehuntinggames.com. How may I win a Treasure? If you are the first to determine the solution to a game, you will win that game's treasure. The solution to any game is a textual description of something that exists in the universe. See The Rules for more information. What is the Treasure? Unless otherwise stated in the game description the treasure will be a certified check, payable in US Dollars. What are these games like - give me an example. Ok, here is a free game for you to try out here ! How is the value of the Treasure determined? The Treasure is determined by the number of people that play. The more people that play, the bigger the prize. The current amount of the treasure for a particular game is listed on our website on the Play Games page. Get your friends and family to play to increase the value of the treasure. PLAYING THE GAMES Will I have to travel to find a solution? The only travel you may have to do to find a solution is to your computer station at home, or to a local library. You will not have to travel to, dig up, purchase, steal, or otherwise physically obtain, see, hear, or touch the solution. You do not put yourself or others in harm’s way or violate any laws to find the solution. What will the solution look like? A solution may be drawn from all possible fields of knowledge. See The Rules for more information. How will I come to know if I have won a treasure? You will submit your solution to the game via the submit solution link Submit Solution. Your solution will be examined. If it is the first correct solution, we will send an email to you informing that you have won the treasure. There is one winner per game. How many people may play? There is no maximum number. Who may participate? Anyone who has a valid Paypal account and is 18 years old or older may play and win treasures. If you are under 18 you need to have a parent or guardian purchase for you and submit your solutions. Treasures will only be awarded to persons 18 years old or older. What are the rules? See The Rules for information that pertains to all games. If a particular game has additional rules, these rules will be detailed with the game. How many games may I play? You may purchase and play as many as you want. May I collaborate with others? You may collaborate as you see fit. We will pay the prize to the purchaser of the game. What are my chances of winning? Your potential of getting to the treasure first is dependant upon skill, not chance. Why are explanations required for the solution to a game? Explanations accomplish two things: first, they prevent guessing or automated guessing and second, they provide integrity to the game for honest players. Will explanations of solved games be posted? Explanations will be posted to the website after the winner is found. If you want notoriety, you can opt to have your name posted with the answer. PAYMENT How do I receive the Treasure if I win? If you are confirmed as the first to provide the correct solution to a game, we will contact you via email to determine where to mail you a certified check. How do I pay to play? We use Paypal for most purchase transactions. If you do not have a Paypal account, set one up by choosing “Create a Paypal account.” Follow the instructions provided by Paypal. We will use your email name in Paypal as your unique id. Alternatively, if you have a major credit card, paypal will accept a secure credit card payment transaction without setting up a permanent account. We receive payment from Paypal in US dollars. Are there Shipping and Handling charges? No. All games are downloaded by the player from our website. Keys are given so that the player may play the game - timed games have the key posted at the start date upon which the game play begins. What taxes will I owe if I win a Treasure? You are responsible for reporting and paying any local, state, and federal taxes if you win. We provide records of any earnings you win to state and federal tax agencies. Are there Sales Taxes? Sales tax is calculated into the price of the game, and we pay this tax to the state. PRIVACY What is your privacy policy? (Zack, 06-Jan-2008) A: Though the key is available on the website, the game may not be downloaded until purchased. However, individuals obtaining the game without purchasing it, may not win the prize, due to not being registered as a legitimate player - hope this helps!
